The company acknowledges the problem, with users reporting that alarms are either too quiet or not sounding at all
Apple is addressing an issue where some users have reported that their iPhone alarms are either not going off or playing too quietly. The company has acknowledged the problem, which has been highlighted by TikTok users experiencing incidents where their alarms have failed to sound.
“I’ve probably had my alarm not go off for the third or fourth day in a row now,” mentioned one TikTok user.
Another user commented, “I’ve noticed over the past week or so that my alarm just wasn’t waking me up.” These issues are causing users problems with timekeeping.
Apple stated that it is striving to swiftly resolve the issue, although the extent of the impact on users and the specific devices involved remain unclear.
In another TikTok video, which has amassed nearly 10 million views, a user mentioned that their iPhone 15 alarm had sounded at “the lowest volume.” They suggested that the problem might be linked to an “attention aware” feature enabled on their phone. The user also added, “Apple, are you trying to get people fired?”
Apple declined to comment on whether the attention aware feature was responsible for the alarm problem, which was initially reported by NBC’s Today program. This feature reduces the volume of alerts when users are actively viewing their device. Additionally, it dims the display until the user looks away.
Apple offers online guidance on managing alarms, directing users to adjust the alarm volume through the “Sounds & Haptics” feature in settings. The advice also clarifies that the “do not disturb” and “silent mode” options do not impact the alarm sound. The page further advises users to ensure their alarm sound is not set to “none.”
