Enhance your job search with LinkedIn’s latest AI assistant

LinkedIn is rolling out new AI-driven features to give job seekers an advantage in their quest for new opportunities. These tools, powered by OpenAI’s generative AI technology, offer personalized advice to help users present themselves as strong candidates.

The latest features include an AI-powered chatbot represented by a sparkle emoji on job listings. Premium users can click the emoji to open a chat window and inquire about a role, company culture, benefits, and more. The chatbot provides concise answers drawn from LinkedIn’s extensive company and industry data.

In addition to addressing specific job inquiries, the AI assistant can also offer career guidance based on the content shared in a user’s LinkedIn feed. The objective is to provide personalized advice as users navigate the often lengthy and complex modern job application process.

According to LinkedIn’s Rohan Rajiv, as explained to Wired, job hunting can feel like trying to scale a high wall just to assess if you’d be a good fit for a role. “You’re really hoping that you can connect with someone on the other side of the wall and find out: What are my prospects here? What is the work environment like?” The new AI features aim to provide candidates with some of that insider information.

The latest developments come after a series of AI launches on LinkedIn in the past year, which included automated profile summaries, AI-generated job descriptions for employers, and personalized coaching experiences. They also coincide with a period of economic uncertainty and layoffs in the tech industry.

Even in a robust job market, the current hiring process frequently requires candidates to navigate through additional hurdles, such as intricate application systems, multiple interviews, and assessments. LinkedIn’s recent AI features aim to equalize the playing field by equipping job seekers with personalized insights and advice tailored to their background and objectives.

While LinkedIn’s parent company, Microsoft, continues to incorporate AI into its range of productivity tools, the professional networking platform is intensifying its focus on artificial intelligence.
