Google Meet receives various enhancements and a revamped interface. Explore features like the ‘Layer’ button and ‘Studio lighting’ in the latest update
Google Meet, the widely-used video conferencing solution, is introducing several new personalization features to enhance the overall user experience. The latest update includes a redesigned user interface that categorizes effects into three tabs: ‘Backgrounds,’ ‘Filters,’ and ‘Appearance.’
The ‘Backgrounds’ section is now categorized into sections such as ‘New,’ ‘360 degree,’ ‘Professional,’ and ‘Blur and uploads.’ Meanwhile, ‘Filters’ are subdivided into categories like ‘Funny,’ ‘Characters,’ and ‘Accessories.’ In the ‘Appearance’ tab, various color-changing options like ‘Light leak,’ ‘Grayscale,’ and more can be applied to the video.
With Google Meet allowing users to combine backgrounds and filters, a new ‘Layer’ button has been introduced. This enables users to easily toggle and review the effects they are currently using.
Google has unveiled a new web feature for Meet called ‘Studio Lighting.’ True to its name, this functionality allows users to emulate studio-like lighting, providing options to adjust the lighting position, brightness, and color. To utilize this feature, navigate to ‘Apply visual effects,’ go to the ‘Appearance’ section, and select ‘Studio lighting.’
An additional valuable feature exclusive to the web version is ‘Studio sound,’ employing AI to replicate higher audio frequencies and enhance audio quality for Bluetooth headsets and dial-in participants. To access this feature, users need to install the Duet AI for Google Workspace Enterprise add-on.
