There are rumours that the Glacier Battery technology may be introduced for the first time on the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro
Although the power of mobile chipsets keeps increasing year, there hasn’t been a major technological advancement in battery capacity; both flagship and affordable phones usually stay in the 5,000mAh area. But with the launch of a brand-new battery technology known as “Glacier Battery,” OnePlus is poised to rewrite that story.
OnePlus announced in a series of posts on the Chinese social media site Weibo, translated by And, that its new battery technology will solve problems such the need for power banks to be carried around, low battery anxiety, and frequent charging. OnePlus stated that it will provide more information regarding the new battery technology on June 20. The technology was developed in partnership with CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited), one of the biggest battery producers in the world.
Though there are rumours indicating that the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro will probably be among the first phones to use this new technology, it is still unclear which phones will be the first to embrace it. The forthcoming smartphone is rumoured to have a 6,100mAh battery, with a dual-cell design with two 2,970mAh batteries, according to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station.
Along with having a huge battery capacity, the tipster also stated that the Ace 3 Pro will be thinner than 9 mm and that it will take about 30 minutes to fully charge. It seems that smaller and more energy-dense batteries than those on the market now will be possible because to new developments in battery technology. In the smartphone market, where battery capacity has recently been a limiting factor, this might be a huge advance.
Whether the Glacier Battery technology improves the cell architecture or incorporates novel chemistry is still unknown. As a result, we will have to wait a few more days to hear more specific details.
