There were only few areas in the US, Canada, and Mexico where people could witness the total solar eclipse
On April 8, from 9:23 p.m. to 2:22 a.m. IST, there was a total solar eclipse across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. At 10:09 pm IST, the area of the Pacific Ocean where the deepest part of the Moon’s shadow touched down was roughly 998 km south of the Republic of Kiribati.
NASA took a lighthearted stab at its official NASA Sun and Space account amid the social media frenzy around the celestial spectacle.
The NASA Sun and Space account on X was shown in a screenshot that NASA posted, with the comment “@NASASun is blocked.” NASA funny-posted a screenshot with the caption, “Oops I did it again.”
Many social media users found the message funny and responded. I’m here for the material, said one user in a comment. You succeeded.” “I don’t know who did this, but they should get a raise,” remarked a another user. “Did you unblock them yet?” inquired a third user.
“Eclipse never had this much fun. Well done, sun and moon!” A another user wrote.
NASA streamed the total solar eclipse live on its official YouTube channel on Monday. Some Caribbean countries, such as Colombia, Venezuela, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, and Iceland, were able to witness a partial eclipse.
Google commemorated the rare event with a special animation. To view the animation, Google instructed users to search for terms like ‘April 8 eclipse,’ ‘eclipse 2024,’ ‘solar eclipse,’ ‘solar eclipse 2024,’ and ‘total solar eclipse.’
