Microsoft is said to be introducing Copilot GPTs to the free version of the AI-powered chatbot, potentially making them available to users without a Microsoft account
Microsoft appears to be integrating ChatGPT-powered GPTs into the complimentary edition of Copilot, the company’s generative AI-driven chatbot. Notably, these GPTs are not confined to Microsoft Edge and do not necessitate user login to a Microsoft account.
As outlined in a recent report from Windows Latest, Copilot GPTs seem to be operational on Google Chrome, albeit with current limitations in functionality. Users can currently access basic GPT modules for activities such as fitness, cooking, or design.
In contrast to the standard Copilot version, these new GPTs are tailored for specific tasks. For instance, selecting the Microsoft Designer GPT enhances the generation of creative images using OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 text-to-image generator, surpassing the capabilities of the typical chatbot.
According to the report, Microsoft is presently in the testing phase for five GPTs: Copilot, Designer, Vacation Planner, Cooking Assistant, and Fitness Trainer. The tech giant intends to incorporate additional GPTs in the upcoming weeks.
In November of last year, when OpenAI introduced customized GPTs, the company highlighted that these models exhibit superior performance compared to the generalized model. OpenAI stated that these custom GPTs have the ability to “combine instructions, additional knowledge, and various skills,” and they can seamlessly integrate with third-party applications.
For subscribers to Copilot Pro, customization of these GPTs to align with your preferences is possible, akin to the GPT builder introduced by OpenAI in ChatGPT Plus a couple of months ago. Nevertheless, at present, it appears that Copilot GPTs are accessible to only a select few users. This implies that there may be a waiting period before they become available on your account.
